The Senate, on Monday, commenced investigation into how N120 billion government intervention fund released to the aviation industry in 2011, vanished. The money was released by the Central Bank of Nigeria, as part of a N500 billion intervention fund, the acting director, development and finance at the bank, Mudashiru Olaitan said. Other beneficiaries of the N500billion fund were the Ministry of Power, and the agency in charge of small and medium scale enterprises, Mr. Olaitan said.

    A source at t he Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have revealed that a personal account at the Zenith Bank of Nigeria of Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, was frozen in connection with over N1.2billion he took in 2014 from the disgraced National Security Adviser (NSA), Sambo Dasuki, to prosecute his re-election as governor. Several of the operatives said the action came at the end of agency’s year-long investigation into the matter.

EFCC is Set To Investigate Sacked Soldiers

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has said that it will launch a probe into the activities of the 38 soldiers who were compulsorily retired by the Nigerian Army. The soldiers were retired last week by the military authorities following allegation of fraud in the arms deal. A human rights group, Human Rights and Anti-Corruption Advocacy Centre, protested to the headquarters of the commission yesterday in Abuja, demanding the probe of the soldiers. The chairman of the EFCC, Mr. Ibrahim Magu, told the protesters that his office would look into their demands.

The Federal High Court, Lagos Division has frozen all the assets of businessman Jimoh Ibrahim, as well as his NICON Investment Limited and Global Fleet Oil and Gas Limited. Justice Saliu Saidu issued the interim injunction in response to an application by Mr. Yusuf Ali, counsel to the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) on June 14th, and it will stay in place until all the issues concerning their indebtedness to AMCON are determined.
