The Niger Delta Avengers denies entering into any ceasefire agreement with FG

The Niger Delta Avengers (NDA), a new militant group that has claimed responsibility for a recent series of attacks on oil and gas facilities across the Niger Delta, have denied reports that they entered into a ceasefire agreement with the Federal Government.

Reports began circulating earlier today that the NDA and the Federal Government agreed to a 30-day ceasefire. This news followed a report by SaharaReporters that the Minister for Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu, met with representatives from NDA at the Delta State Government House.
An NDA statement to SaharaReporters said “we never had any such agreement [with the FG].”
The NDA warned that “political jobbers” have began claiming to speak for their group and that they will only agree to dialogue if it is open to an international audience.
