Lagos records first successful bone bridge surgery in West Africa

Read the press statement below...  The Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) in December 2015 carried out the first successful Bone Bridge Surgery in West Africa as well as successful Cochlear Implant surgeries on three deaf patients without the support of foreign doctors, the State Government said on Tuesday. The State Government, through LASUTH, also had its first successful Kidney Transplant carried out by the Hospital’s team of Urologists and Nephrologists in November 2015 and discharged the patient in good condition on December 1, 2015, while another transplant is being planned. Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, says if masquerades were well packaged, dressing and undressing of the masquerades could provide 1000 jobs for some young Nigerian men. According to TheCable , Lai said this while speaking at the sectoral debate of the Federal House of Representative in Abuja today May 3rd; “Most states today have more than one festival a year, but the packaging and lack of capacity has not enabled them to make the most out of these festivals. There’s a particular masquerade in the south east, it takes 100 people to dress him, another 100 people to undress him. If this masquerade is well-packaged, it can provide employment in one week for more than 1000 young men. These are some of the untapped potentials. $15bn Arms Scandal: Presidential Panel Uncovers Massive Fraud In The Nigerian Army

The presidential panel set up by President Muhammadu Buhari through the Office of the National Security Adviser to probe arms procurement between 2007 and 2015 has allegedly uncovered massive fraud in the Nigerian Army, The PUNCH has learnt. It will be recalled that the panel had, so far, submitted two reports on its probe to the President. While the first interim report was submitted in November 2015, the second report was submitted in January following which Buhari ordered the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to investigate 18 serving and retired military officers, mainly from the Air Force. The PUNCH’s investigation on Sunday revealed that the panel, which has Air Vice Marshal J. O. Ode (retd.) as its chairman, was concluding work on the probe of the Army. It was gathered that part of the panel’s discovery was that the total amount involved in arms fraud was $15bn and not $2.1bn. Alleged internet fraudster arraigned in court

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, May 3, 2016, arraigned one Ighofose Oyoma before Justice E. A. Obile of the Federal High Court sitting in Warri, Delta State on a 7 count charge bordering on Conspiracy, Forgery and Obtaining Money by False Pretence to the tune of Nine Thousand Two Hundred Dollars ($9,200).   Ighofose Oyoma Ighofose was arrested sometime in May, 2015 in Calabar, Cross River state following intelligence report on his involvement in internet scams. During investigation different scam mails which he used in defrauding his victims , mostly  foreign women by presenting himself as Mike Anderson,  an American businessman, were recovered. Family of six survive ghastly accident in Port Harcourt

A family of six in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, were saved from being burnt to death recently after their Mercedes 190 car suddenly went up in flames while they were traveling in it. The fire started at Ogwa street, Diobu area of Port Harcourt and passersby were quick to evacuate the occupants as fire engulfed the car. ‎Asides some bruises, all occupants in the car were rescued alive.
