Many people are said to have been killed by suspected herdsmen in Nimbo, Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State on Monday . The spokesman of the police in Enugu State, Mr Ebere Amaraizu who confirmed the incident said the Commissioner of Police, Mr Nwodibo Ekechukwu had already moved to the local government to ensure that normalcy returned.    "The police are aware of the attack in Uzo-Uwani and the state commissioner of police is already there to ensure that situation is brought under control. The police are also collaborating with sister security agencies like the army, civil defence and the Department of State Services to handle the matter," Amraizu said. George Uboh jailed three years George Uboh, the serial fraudster who sensationally accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of diverting proceeds of recovered assets was today convicted and sentenced to three years imprisonment by Justice S. E. Aladetoyinbo of the Federal Capital Territory High Court Abuja, for his role in converting the property of the defunct Police Equipment Foundation to his own use. Uboh was arraigned by the EFCC on a three-count charge bordered on Criminal Breach of Trust involving the sale of PEF vehicles. He allegedly abused his position as former Head of Security and Communication Department, Police Equipment Foundation, PEF, to convert the properties of the foundation to his personal use. Cattle Herdsmen Invade Enugu community kills many

About 20 persons in Ukpabi Nimbo, an agrarian community in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State, were feared dead during an attack by Fulani herdsmen on Monday. It was learnt that scores of armed cattle herdsmen, reportedly numbering more then a hundred, swooped on the sleepy community in the early hours of Monday. Sources in the community disclosed that continuous gunshots were heard as the rampaging herdsmen moved to sack villagers from their homes. Apart from guns, bows and arrows and machetes, or swords, were also wielded by the herdsmen, it was learnt. Many of the villagers escaped to neighboring communities in the Uzo-Uwani area, but it was gathered that people in the nearby towns are also worried about possible attacks from the herdsmen. A police source told our correspondent that, as of the time of filing this report, the corpses of five persons who died in the attack had been recovered. The Federal Government has approved the production of another driving licence that will have a five-year expiry period, the Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr. Boboye Oyeyemi, has said. Oyeyemi, who spoke at a press briefing in Lagos on Saturday, said the decision to have the five-year driving licence was taken by the Joint Tax Board at its 134th meeting held recently in Kano, which was presided over by the Chairman, Federal Inland Revenue Service, Babatunde Fowler. Before now, the driving licence had a three-year terminal date after which motorists were expected to renew the document. Oyeyemi, however, said the three-year driving licence would not be jettisoned, adding that it would exist side by side with the new one. He said, with the new five-year driving licence, motorists would have the option of going for that or the three-year licence. Kogi Ex-Law Maker Jailed for N1.4b fraud

A Federal High Court in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital on Monday convicted a former member of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Gabriel Daudu, of money laundering and sentenced him to two years imprisonment. Justice Inyang Ekwo, in a judgment on Monday, found Daudu guilty on 77 out of the 208 counts pressed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. Daudu, who served as the Caretaker Chairman of the Ogori/Mangogo Local Government Area of Kogi State between January and July 2008, had been standing trial since April, 2010 alongside a former Commissioner for Agriculture in Kogi State, Albert Adesina. The charges pressed against them by the EFCC bordered on conspiracy, advanced fee fraud and money laundering involving about N1.4bn. But while Daudu was convicted on 77 counts and sentenced to two years on each count to run concurrently, Justice Ekwo, however, discharged and acquitted Adesina, who was only charged with one count. An 18-year-old man, identified simply as Sunday, is currently in the police custody in Abuja after he allegedly killed his parents’ landlady, identified only as Mama Moses. The suspect was also accused of killing the landlady’s daughter and her three grandchildren. It was gathered that the suspect, who lived with his parents in the landlady’s residence at Tudun-Fulani, in the Bwari area of the Federal Capital Territory, reported himself to the police after committing the crime.
