The Ebute Metta Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos has ordered that Lekan Shonde be remanded at the Ikoyi prison for the next 30 days. Lekan was arraigned in court today for the murder of his wife, Ronke at their Egbeda, Lagos home on May 5th. He pleaded not guilty after the one-count charge of murder was read to him. The Magistrate, Mrs Oluyemisi Adelaja, ordered after his plea, that he should be remanded at the Ikoyi Prisons for 30 days, pending an advice from the state’s Director of Public Prosecutions. Ronke Shonde, the mother of two who was attacked and allegedly killed by her husband, Lekan, has been laid to rest. She was buried today at Atan cemetery in Lagos. May her soul rest in peace Amen.

  Nigerian army searching for missing Chibok school girls Hours after Amina Ali, one of the Chibok girls rescued on Wednesday from the insurgents, met with President Muhammadu Buhari, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, the Nigerian Army announced the rescue of another of the girls on Thursday evening. The Lagos State Police Command says alleged wife killer, Lekan Shonde, will be tried for murder.  The Police Public Relations Officer, Dolapo Badmos, told PUNCH Metro on Thursday that the suspect would be arraigned in court today (Friday) for allegedly killing his wife, Ronke. This is just as our correspondent learnt that the remains of the late Ronke would soon be buried. It was gathered that the corpse had been released to her family by the police after the conclusion of autopsy on Wednesday. It was learnt that the family members had fixed Friday (today) for the burial, but could change their mind.
