Yet again: Niger delta avengers destroy more oil facilities on thursday

Niger Delta Avengers, the new militant group that has claimed responsibility for a string of attacks on oil and gas installations in the Niger Delta, continued its disruption of Nigeria’s oil production with the bombing of more crude oil pipelines Thursday. The group announced the latest attack via its Twitter handle on Thursday evening, saying it blew up “Ogboinbiri to Tebidaba and Clough Creek to Tebidaba crude oil pipelines in Bayelsa State.” “At about 2:00am today @NDAvengers blew up the Ogboinbiri to Tebidaba and Clough Creek to Tebidaba crude oil pipelines in Bayelsa State.” The Avengers added that the latest disruption is “in line with our promise to all international oil companies and indigenous oil companies that Nigeria oil production will be zero.” The group did not say which oil company is operating the pipelines. Buhari again fails to publish details of funds recovered as promised

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday failed to publish details of recovered loot and culpable individuals as he promised he would during his nationwide broadcast on May 29. Thursday’s failure made it the second time Mr. Buhari would renege on a promise he boldly made to Nigerians. Mr. Buhari had on May 14 said in London that he would personally provide specific details of all recovered stolen public funds when he addressed Nigerians on Democracy Day and his first year in office, adding that he believed that what Nigerians were being fed through the media were not detailed enough.

Anglican church Reverend has been arrested for allegedly defiling more than 24 boys between 12 and 16 years

A cleric, Paul Morah, who claims to be a Reverend with Anglican church has been arrested by the police for allegedly defiling more than 24 male children between 12 and 16 years at Enyibichiri community in Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State. Morah, an indigene of Orji in Enugu State but came to Ebonyi for pastoral work was alleged to have used a diabolical handkerchief to lure some of the children, especially those who tried to resist him.

‘Cancel Your Visit To Niger Delta Or Die’, Avengers Warn Buhari

A suspected member of the militant group called Radio Biafra yesterday, the 31st may,2016, to send a warning to President Buhari to cancel his proposed visit to Ogoniland or consider himself dead. The Niger Delta clean-up was flagged off today by Vice President Osinbajo in Ogoniland. Mr. Buhari’s planned visit, which was expected to begin on Thursday (2 June 2016), comes as attacks on oil pipelines blamed on the new group, NDA, partially halted oil production, and forced Chevron and Royal Dutch Shell to close at least two plants. During a phone conversation with one of the hosts of UK-based Radio Biafra, the suspected militant said: ”This is Niger Delta Avenger…it has come to our notice that the Nigerian army killed our brothers who went to remember our dead heroes on 30th may in Nkpor, Anambra State, the army will hear from us, you are all monsters but you must pay.

Robbers who tried to rob bullion van met their waterloo

Operatives of the Rivers State Police Command on Tuesday killed two armed robbers, who engaged a team of policemen and soldiers in a shootout on Stadium Road in the Elekahia axis of Port Harcourt. Six of the armed robbers were also arrested by the policemen and soldiers, who did not record any casualty on their part. The armed robbers were said to have trailed a bullion van from the Diamond Bank branch in Trans-Amadi with the intent of attacking the vehicle and operatives manning it. Unknown to the hoodlums, who came in a Nissan Primera and red Jetta cars, security operatives, including soldiers, noticed the strange movement and also trailed them. It was, however, at Elekahia that security operatives opened fire on them, killing two and arresting six. A young Pakistani teacher has died after being tortured and set alight by her former boss as punishment for refusing a marriage proposal from his son, relatives and police said. Maria Sadaqat, 19, was attacked in the village of Upper Dewal, outside the capital Islamabad, on Monday night, and died two days later as a result of injuries. Ms Sadaqat had recently been forced to leave her teaching job at the school, after the principal had begun harassing her when she turned down the proposal from his son, who was ‘twice her age’.

Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Fatai Owoseni, has revealed how a 19-year-old girl, who had been posing as Music star, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, aka Wizkid, on social media, was arrested. The young girl, who’s not even up to 20yrs old, was said to have duped many people, including students of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), before she was arrested. Among her victims were also two people living overseas. The money was over $53,000, equivalent of about N10.4 million. One of the victims was defrauded of $49,000, while she milked the second victim of $12,000. According to Owoseni, the suspect, who is a student of one of the universities in the country, was arrested after Wizkid reported the case to the police command, complaining that someone was impersonating him and collecting money for shows. Niger Delta militants on Wednesday blew up two additional facilities belonging to Chevron Nigeria Limited, making it the fourth time the oil major’s assets would be attacked in less than a month. Amid the recent upsurge in attacks on oil and gas installations in the area, some international oil companies and the Nigerian National Petroleum Companies have seen their facilities damaged, with the latest being Chevron. A militant group that calls itself the Niger Delta Avengers, which has claimed responsibility for most of the attacks since the beginning of the year, destroyed two vital Chevron’s Bibi oil wells, RMP 23 and RMP 24, in Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State on Wednesday.

Court jails wheelbarrow pusher for stealing 3 bags of bambara nuts

Mararaba (Nasarawa State) – A Mararaba Grade 1 Area Court on Wednesday sentenced a 23-year-old wheelbarrow pusher, Bashir Mohammed, to 12 months imprisonment for stealing three bags of bambara nuts worth N36, 000. The convict stood trial for criminal conspiracy and theft, punishable under Sections 97 and 288 of the Penal Code. The Judge, Mr Albert Maga, however, gave the convict a N5, 000 option of fine. Maga said he had no option than to sentence the convict accordingly since he had pleaded guilty to the charges.
