The Lagos State Government on Friday said that from July 1, 2016, it would commence a total enforcement against street trading and street hawkers, saying that the law banning their activities across the metropolis would take its full course.

The court, in a ruling by Justice Ademola Adeniyi, has held that former governor Imo State, Ikedi Ohakim, who piloted the affairs of Imo state between May 2007 and May 2011, has a case to answer regarding the charges against him. Justice Adeniyi Ademola made this order in a ruling on Thursday after dismissing the no-case submission filed by the former governor, against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

Delta Assembly Amends Punishment For Kidnapping From Death Penalty To Life Imprisonment

The Delta State House of Assembly on Wednesday in Asaba approved life imprisonment for any person convicted of kidnapping in the state. This followed the amendment of the Delta State Anti-Kidnapping Law 2016. Governor Ifeanyi Okowa in a letter to the House appealed for reconsideration of Section 4, Sub-Section 1 of the Delta State Anti-Kidnapping Law, 2016 as passed by the House, which made provision for death penalty.

A team of surgeons at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital, Bauchi, have constructed a new bladder for an 18-year-old cancer patient. Saidu Ibrahim, a student of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Bauchi, was diagnosed of having malignant cells in the tissues of his bladder.

Governor Yahaya Bello stranded in Kano enroute Saudi Arabia over expired visa

Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello was on Thursday stopped from traveling to Saudi Arabia for a lesser hajj at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport as his travel visa had expired. According to SaharaReporters, the governor had boarded the Saudi Arabia bound aircraft and sat on his reserved seat while his aides were busy processing his travel documents only to ‎discover that his visa has expired. Shortly after the discovery of the expired visa on his passport, the visibly disappointed governor had no alternative but to disembark from the aircraft. Thereafter, it was gathered that Mr. Bello proceeded to the Kano State Government House, where he spent the night.
