Two Women Kidnap Their Own Mother… Their Reason Will Shock You

Image
Two women have been nabbed after they staged the kidnap of their own mother and then gave a rather weird and funny excuse for the act. Emmanuel Ojukwu, the Enugu State Commissioner of Police, on Thursday, paraded two women, who allegedly stage-managed their mother’s kidnap. Daily post reports that they were arrested alongside the boyfriend to one of them. According to Ojukwu “the suspects were arrested on a different date in connection with the purported kidnapping of Mrs Hannah Achime. “One Monday Egbe, aged 30 years, was arrested and he confessed how the two of the victim’s daughters, Onyinyechi Achime and Akunna Achime invited him to the business to enable them collect money from their elder brother, one Mr. Eric Achime based in Lagos. “Ransom of N2.5 million naira was demanded, while N500,000.00 was agreed to be paid, though nothing was paid. Suspects all confessed to the crime.” While being interviewed by journalists, the two ladies claimed to have execute

Ronke’s autopsy report’ll shock everyone – Source

As everyone awaits the result of the autopsy on the late Ronke Shonde, Saturday PUNCH has learnt that the report could be a shocker. A source told our correspondent that the report, which will be out next week, might not go the way of public opinion. Our correspondent had reported how Lekan, 51, allegedly beat his wife, Ronke, to death at their home in the Egbeda-Idimu area of the Lagos State last Thursday. He was alleged to have shut the gate against the corpse and his two children. The police from the Idimu division were said to have recovered the corpse by Friday morning after the landlady reported the case. Lekan, a dockworker in Apapa, had fled and was reported to have travelled to Ondo State en route to Benin Republic before he returned to Lagos after much persuasion by friends. The Abeokuta, Ogun State indigene, who spoke with our correspondent while in hiding, had denied complicity in the death. He accused Ronke of sleeping with the general m

Naira falls to 360 as dollar demand rises

The naira weakened further on Friday, trading at 360 to the United States dollar at the parallel market, amid a rise in demand for dollars by fuel importers. The local currency stood at 341 at the unofficial market on Thursday, a day after the Federal Government announced the removal of fuel subsidy and a new petrol price band of N135 to N145 per litre. The government said fuel importers were allowed from now on to get dollars from the parallel market to help ease acute shortages – likely to result in increased demand for dollars, and more pressure on the naira, as importers increased their orders. Meanwhile, it was being rumoured in some quarters that the Central Bank of Nigeria had secretly devalued the naira. When contacted, the spokesperson, CBN, Mr. Isaac Okoroafor, said it was not true that the naira had been devalued. However, traders and financial experts have attributed the drop in the naira value to demand pressure from buyers, speculation, the a
