Computer village, known worldwide as the Electronics hub of Lagos has found its sales of mobile phones suffering a slump as the economic downturn has hit consumers hard. The normally buoyant mobile phone business has suffered a setback as more and more consumers prefer to take the riskier option of the roadside vendors who could sell them phones at a cheaper price.

Globacom on Friday sacked 54 of its power engineers across the country and gave no official reason for the sacking. It was learnt that the affected workers received official notification from the company that it no longer needed their services.

The Department of State Services has arrested Alhaja Moroophat Onikoro, the wife of a former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, who has been in the United States since June, 2015. It was learnt that the suspect was arrested in front of her husband’s house located on Layi Ajayi-Bembe Street, Parkview Estate, Ikoyi, Lagos on Thursday.
