A member of a notorious gang operating across the south-south and south-east of the country, Gogo Daniel Ume (aka Full Payment), has told the police about how he usually donated food items and gifts to his church after every successful operation. Ume is one of the three suspects nabbed by the Inspector-General of Police Special Intelligence Response Team in Rivers and Bayelsa states, following weeks of efforts to track down the criminals.

Finally Federal government releases list of looted assets recovered

  The Federal Government on Saturday released the highly anticipated list of recovered loot. In a statement by the Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the government revealed the recoveries were made between May 29, 2015 and May 25, 2016. The government gave the breakdown of the loot as N78, 325,354,631.82; $185,119,584.61; £3,508,355.46  and €11, 250. A conversion of the funds using the official exchange rate of the Central Bank of Nigeria, the amount adds up to N115,792,760,499. The Muhammadu Buhari-led government added that a separate amount of cash and assets worth over N2tn had also been seized. However, the properties and cash are under legal contention. The assets and cash seized under interim forfeiture totalled: $9bn, N126bn, £2.4m and €303,399. Nigerian troops kill Boko Haram’s most feared butcher, 18 others

Troops of the Nigerian Army currently prosecuting the counterinsurgency operations in the country’s Northeast on Thursday announced the killing of 19 Boko Haram fighters. Among those killed, according to a statement by the spokesperson for the army, Sani Usman, was a notorious Ameer (leader), Abubakar Gana, in whose hands hundreds were reported to have been slaughtered. Those who understand Boko Haram’s internal workings say it is customary in Boko Haram circle that a member only achieves Ameership position after killing at least 50 persons and or after personally slaughtering his parents or a member of his family. Mr. Gana is said to have achieved that rank many years ago, before assuming his position as chief of the sect’s killer squad. Legendary boxer, Muhammad Ali, is Dead

Legendary boxer, Muhammad Ali, 74 who was rushed to a hospital outside Phoenix, Arizona and reportedly on life support after he was found 'barely breathing' at his home on Thursday has died. Ali was surrounded by his family who rushed to be at his bedside on Friday after doctors warned his condition was 'rapidly deteriorating', Radar Online reported. Ali was taken to hospital on Thursday with an 'unshakeable cough' which was complicated by his Parkinson's disease.
