Man who killed his family members in Yobe says he murdered them out of fear of being reported to the police for drug abuse

28 year old Adamu Magaji Mai-Bisco who hacked his parents and two sisters to death while they were sleeping on Monday night May 16th, said that he killed them because he was scared of being reported to the police for his drug abuse. “I didn’t have much problem with my parents but they hated me. I became worried that one day they would drag me before the police or some other law enforcement agency, that is why I acted this way,” he told DailyTrust in his detention room at the Potiskum Police station.   A remorseful Adamu added  “I pray that nobody should try this kind of atrocity I committed,”. Speaking on the incident, the elder brother of Adamu, Hussain Magaji, said  the suspect allowed the family to sleep before he went in with his shovel and knife. Mother of two, smuggling Indian hemp to China, arrested in Lagos

  The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Thursday said it had arrested a 38-year-old mother of two at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, with 1.155 kilogrammes of cannabis hidden in melon and other foodstuffs. Faith Obidike was caught by anti-narcotic officers during an outward screening of passengers on Kenya Airways flight to China, the NDLEA said in a statement. The agency said the arrest had saved the suspect from execution in China where drug trafficking attracts capital punishment. Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, says the removal of oil subsidy is as a result of Nigeria's poor economic state. According to Mohammed, Nigeria is broke. Unemployed BTech: Chemical Engineering graduate, Anthea Malwandle received positive responses after standing at a busy intersection in Johannesburg, South Africa with a placard, asking for work.   When Malwandle completed her degree at the Vaal University of Technology (VUT) in 2015, she never anticipated that her job-seeking journey would be so tough. She has been hunting for graduate and internship programmes since April 2015, to no avail. She called many companies and visited their offices to try schedule interview appointments but failed. In desperation, Malwandle took to the street with a placard. An EgyptAir flight with more than 66 people aboard crashed during a flight from Paris to Cairo leaving the victim's families and friends devastated as they search for answer. The plane was flying at 37,000 feet when it lost contact overnight above the Mediterranean Sea, the airline tweeted. French President Francois Hollande said he was told the flight crashed, but Egyptian Civil Aviation Minister Sharif Fathi said he preferred to classify the flight as missing, CNN reports. "We do not deny there is a possibility of terrorism or deny the possibility of technical fault," Fathi said at a Cairo news conference. "I will continue to use the term missing plane until we find any debris." Later at the same news conference, he indicated that while there were "no known security issues" with passengers aboard the plane, the probability of terrorism downing it is higher than the likelihood of a mechanical cause.

TVC Presenter, Wale Fakile arrested for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend

Wale Fakile, a presenter and producer with TV Continental (TVC) has reportedly been arrested for assaulting his girlfriend. Wale 'Richboy' Fakile allegedly beat her so much he left bruises on her. Activist/Co-ordinator of Walk against Rape campaign, Esther Ijewere-Kalejaiye shared the message and pictures which she received from the girl who was seeking for justice. The message read, "Dnt publish my name pls, am pass Mandy, my supposed boyfriend that works with TVC beat me yesterday to stupor with bruises all over and he said there is nothing I can do about it bcos he is rich and works with TVC and am poor." The rescued Chibok school girl, Amina Ali, was airlifted by Nigeria Air Force Super Puma aircraft from Damboa to Maiduguri alongside her baby and supposed husband, Mohammed Hayatu. Prior to that they were examined at the Air Force medical facility and were found to be stable and normal blood pressure was observed. Thereafter, she was released to the Operation LAFIYA DOLE headquarters for further investigation and handing over. After preliminary investigation, the rescued girl and her baby has been handed over to Borno State Governor, His Excellency, Honourable Kashim Shetima, at Government house, Maiduguri this evening by the Acting General Officer Commanding 7 Division, Brigadier General Victor Ezugwu in a brief ceremony. It is believed that she will be brought to Abuja tomorrow along with her parents to meet with Mr President. Meanwhile, the supposed husband is undergoing further investigation at Joint Intelligence Centre.

Truck crushes man fighting with friend over debt

A speeding truck crushed a motor park boy , popularly called agbero , to death on Wednesday at the Berger bus stop, on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. It was learnt that the deceased, identified simply as Agba Akin , had lent a friend some money which the friend, Jimoh, had yet to repay. Jimoh, a commercial driver shuttling between Ketu and Mowe, was said to have slowed down to pick passengers at the bus stop when the deceased rushed to his side and struggled for the steering with him (Jimoh), insisting that the money should be paid on the spot. PUNCH Metro gathered that as Jimoh sped off to evade the payment, Agba Akin lost his balance and veered into the path of an oncoming truck which smashed his head. A human trafficking victim, Love John, says she slept with more than 400 men in less than five months in the Sango Ota area of Ogun State. Love, 22, and her 23-year-old sister, Happiness, were lured into prostitution sometime in January by their eldest sister, Mary. Mary also tricked a cousin, Joy Lawrence, 25, promising the three ladies that she could give them jobs that would help them make a decent living. However, by the time they discovered that they had been trafficked, the victims said they had become trapped. PUNCH Metro learnt that Lawrence and another victim fled the hotel on Monday when they could no longer bear the pain they were subjected to. Lawrence was reported to have been brought to the Lagos zonal headquarters of the Nigeria Immigration Service, which then stormed the hotel and rescued other victims.  The late Ronke Shonde who was  allegedly killed by her husband, Lekan, died from respiratory seizure. The final autopsy report, which just got to the State Department of Criminal Investigation, revealed that the victim did not die from domestic violence.   A very reliable source said, “The final autopsy result has been released. In fact, it is just getting to the SDCI. The summary of the report is that she did not die from the bruises on her body. She died from respiratory seizure.” The Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Police Command, Dolapo Badmos, confirmed that the police had got the report, adding that the details would be released on Thursday.
