A 30-year-old chief priest, Eno Akpan, has been arrested by the Akwa Ibom State Police Command for allegedly killing his one year and three months old daughter, Favour. Eno, a native of Ikot Akpan Udo village in the Ikot Abasi Local Government Area, was said to be the custodian of the village’s shrine.

Tension as Plots to remove Dogara over Budget Padding Allegation Thickens

There was a palpable tension in the House of Representatives on Monday over an alleged plot to remove the Speaker, Mr. Yakubu Dogara, over the budget padding allegations made by a former Chairman of the Committee on Appropriation, Mr. Abdulmumin Jibrin.  It was gathered that many members were ruffled, forcing a large number of them to rush from their vacation spots to meetings in Abuja where the alleged plot was discussed.

Armed Robbers rob Lagos police inspector, two shot dead

On monday around 11.45am, a police inspector who had just left a commercial bank  on Okunola Road in the Idimu area of Lagos State , was attacked and robbed by a three-man gang, which came on a motorcycle. They reportedly shot the inspector in the jaw before dispossessing him of his money. As the robbers were escaping from the scene, a police patrol team, attached to the Anti-Pipeline Vandalism Intelligence Unit, engaged the robbers in a shootout.

The military on Monday trooped to Boro Town, Kaiama, in Kolokuma-Opokuma Local Government Area of Bayelsa State and strategic locations in Delta State over threats by militants to declare the Niger Delta Republic.  The militant group, Adaka Boro Avengers, had earlier said it would declare the republic and open its headquarters in Kaiama, the country home of late Ijaw freedom fighter, Major Isaac Adaka Boro.

Kenyan Chops Off Wife’s Hands For Not Conceiving After Seven Years Of

In what is said to be the most atrocious cases of domestic violence , a 34-year-old Kenyan man allegedly chopped off the hands of his wife of seven years with a large knife because she cannot have children. 28-year-old Jackline Mwende from Kathama Village, Masii in Machakos County, had her hands chopped off at the wrist by her husband, Stephen Ngila Thenge (right) on July 24.
