News Jagaban In Eritrea, the Grand Mufti, the highest religious authority in the country, declared that every man must marry two women or face a jail sentence. The declaration was leaked last Thursday on several social media platforms. Eritrean Brides To Be The Eritrean government will compensate Eritrean men for the marriage ceremonies and houses. The declaration is motivated in part by the shortage of men which is a byproduct of the Eritrean-Ethiopian War which took placed from 1998-2000. The war left 150,000 Eritrean soldiers dead out of a population of only 4 million. The statement referenced harsh punishments for refusal of the new decree. “First that every man shall marry at least two women and the man who refuses to do so shall be subjected to life imprisonment with hard labour. “The woman who tries to prevent her husband from marrying another wife shall be punished with life imprisonment,” the statement read in part

Tompolo-Government has widened the criminal charge against the former Niger Delta militant

The Federal Government has widened the criminal charge against the former Niger Delta militant, Government Ekpemupolo popularly known as Tompolo to include advance fee fraud, better known as 419. In a fresh 22 count charge filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Friday, Tompolo and 12 others were said to be engaged in advance fee fraud, stealing and money laundering to the tune of N22.76 billion. Tompolo will face trial along with former boss of NIMASA, Patrick Akpobolokemi and his four brothers – Victor, Nobert, Emmanuel and Clement – said to be at large, allegedly aided the suspects to commit the fraud. News Jagaban Some top officials of the Civil Service have been dismissed by the Federal Government for extorting money from 400 applicants and offering them employment illegally. The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, made the disclosure on Saturday in Lagos during a meeting with some selected On-Air-Personalities. NAN reports that the meeting was part of the minister`s five-day consultations with critical stakeholders in the media industry. Mohammed said that the affected officers were on Grade Level 17 in one of the parastatals in the ministry. A few hours to the expiration of President Goodluck Jonathan’s tenure, papers for a huge rice import quota worth billions of Naira were rushed in for the president’s accent, ostensibly as parting gifts to cronies and businessmen close to the power corridor. FG dismiss senior government officials over job scam

While speaking to select On-Air-Personalities in Lagos state today Jan 23rd, Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, revealed that when he assumed office as a Minister, he discovered some Senior officials in a particular parastatal who were indicted in a job scam where they collected as much as N400, 000 from unsuspecting job applicants. Good Samaritan shot to death trying to help a stranded driver in the snow A motorist shot and killed a good Samaritan who stopped to help him after his car slid off an icy North Carolina highway on Friday evening, according to the Catawba County Sheriff's Office. Around 5:20 p.m. Friday, a group of people stopped to help a motorist who slid off the road in Catawba. The group called the Sheriff's Office for help, and when the driver of the car heard them calling law enforcement, he began shooting, authorities say. The Samaritans ran, but one was shot. That's when, according to the Sheriff's Office, the driver, Marvin Lee (pictured above), approached and continued firing on the downed victim. The national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party has said that it will not provide sureties for its National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh. The party said since Metuh was being prosecuted for offences that have nothing to do with it, its embattled spokesperson should look for those who would stand as sureties for him. Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Alhaji Abdullahi Jalo, told our correspondent in an interview on Friday in Abuja that it would be wrong for anyone to be expecting the party to provide sureties for Metuh when the party did not benefit from the money he allegedly collected from the former National Security Adviser, Lt Col.
