Lagos state launches 'First of its kind' emergency response unit

The Lagos State Emergency Management Authority (LASEMA) Response Unit was launched yesterday by the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Professor Yemi Osinbajo who ably represented the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria President Muhammadu Buhari.

Also present were His Excellency Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, the Deputy Governor of Lagos State Dr Idiat Adebule, the Honourable Minister of Works, Power & Housing Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN), the LASEMA General Manager Mr Michael Akindele amongst others.

Eight years ago, a Command and Control Centre was launched. This Command & Control Centre hosted the 767 & 112 emergency lines and ever since then, Lagosians have been able to speak to trained agents manning the phone lines round the clock every single day of the year.

The Lagos State Government is working to expand the good work of the previous administration by upgrading the Emergency Response Unit. The upgrades go beyond just new equipment, technology upgrades and an international team will work to actively bring down response times.Lagos is a global city and deserves the best.

Within emergency medicine, the ‘golden hour’ refers to the period that prompt intervention will prevent death.

Too many people lose their lives and sources of livelihood, not from the initial incident, but from the lengthy response times due to inadequate resources.

 The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) is empowered by law to coordinate all the first responder activities through the LASEMA Response Unit (LRU) which was launched yesterday by the Vice President. This Unit will respond to emergencies out of its specially designed dispatch center- “the first in Lagos, first in Nigeria” as said by the Vice President Professor Yemi Osinbajo at the LRU launch in Cappa Oshodi yesterday.

 This is no mean feat so the Lagos State Government is working very closely with the private sector; OEMs, technology providers, business process outsourcing companies and emergency training organizations to support the operations for a sustainable and efficient service.
Lagosians are implored to cooperate with the Government by calling only in cases of GENUINE emergencies. Every time what is known as a hoax call is placed, resources and attention are diverted from someone who may be genuinely in need.  

The emergency numbers still remain 767 & 112.

We can’t stop accidents and crime entirely but we can work on a robust and effective response. Lagosians should feel safe at work, at rest and at play; It is indeed evident that Lagos Cares

UK resumes work, study visa applications processing in Nigeria

The United Kingdom has resumed work and study visa applications processing in Nigeria. This was contained in a post by UKinNigeria on its social media handles on Wednesday. In the post, Nigerians were urged to proceed to the UK visa application centres for the Priority Visa Services. “From January 24, TLS will resume offering some Priority Visa (PV) Services in our Nigerian visa application centres. PV services will only be available to customers applying at VACs in Nigeria in work and study routes. These services will only be available via the TLS website and can be purchased when making a VAC appointment,” the post read. Horror As An Ashawo Chops Off Customer’s Manhood For Refusing To Pay After Action

A man has lost his p*n!s in the hands of a an Ashawo after the angry Lady used a sharp object to cut off the man’s m*****d. A Kenyan man has been left in excruciating pain after his m*****d was chopped off by a an Asahwo for refusing to pay her after passionate s*-x.   The unidentified man is now recuperating in hospital but in serious pain. According to The Standard, the 31 year old victim in the Rift Valley town of Nakuru some 250 kilometres north of Kenyan capital Nairobi was alleged to have picked up the Ashawo along the streets Tuesday at around 4pm and taken her to his room.
