The Baby Mama Trend

Without trying to give any legitimacy to the trend, I will just speak on some of the reason while I think this trend is gradually taking root in our African Society.

1. Single Forever: Since s*x became cheap, young guys don't want to settle down anymore.
Why should a man marry one woman and forsake all others for her alone? 
Been labelled 'married' and getting rejected by beautiful girls because of it, is one thing many guys cannot handle.

The guy out of greed and lack of willingness to get committed to one and forsake others, stay put. Single forever!

A little mis-calculation results in pregnancy and since abortion is no longer fashionable, a baby is the end result.

2. Costs: The cost of settling down today is so expensive that some couples just prefer the shortcuts.

3. Names: Some ladies find it no longer fashionable to adopt their husbands surname. So they hang on to their maiden names to the extent, it becomes a problem in the marriage. Many couple quarrel and have separated just because of this seemingly minor issues. But is it really minor?

Why will a dully married woman refuse to adopt her husband surname?
Perhaps she adopts it partially. Is this not an affirmation of the fact the she lacks faith in the marriage?

This alone is said to be fueling the baby mama trend. Since Most men can't stand their wives refusal to immediately adopt their surnames after marriage and the woman don't want such either. She is just fine to have a child for the man co-habit for as long as possible afterall one or both parties have no faith in the thing called marriage.

4. Greed (ATM Machine): Some ladies just want to be associated with a 'rich' personality by hook or by crook, so they would do everything to ensure once they have an affair, pregnancy results and and ATM machine is born.
  So anytime She is broke she just slots in her ATM card (Baby) put the pin (Demands) and Money starts rolling in. They call it financial security.

5. Just for the fun of it: Some guys Just want to have a child for the sake of it. They don't have the patience to wait to get married, so they must have it now.

6. Good Looks: Some guys do this because they met someone who is so good looking they want to have a child who look like him or her without any commitments.

I think no matter what, there is a lot of pride in paying the traditional and biblical requirements for taking a wife as well as having your kids in wedlock.
