Meet Man With The Longest Fingernails In Africa, And He Isn’t Done Yet!

A 34-year-old Kenyan man John Waweru is aiming to enter the Guinness World Records as the person with the longest nails on earth with his over 30 centimetre-long nails on his left hand.

Waweru said that the nails earn him between KSh 2,000 (N6,500) and KSh 10,000 (N32,579) a day because it is a ‘tourist attraction’.

He said: “This is my job, this is what feeds me. I go to the beaches and tourists pay to see the fingernails. I also go to places like Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK) shows, get-togethers and schools where people pay to see my nails.”

He has managed to build a four roomed Swahili house and start a nail salon for manicure and pedicure from the income and doing well for himself.

However, this feat comes with a price. Waweru said he can neither cook nor wash his clothes due to the long nails. He has also stopped covering himself with a bedsheet while sleeping in order to avoid breaking the nails.

According to him, his source of inspiration is India’s Shridhar Chillal, who holds a yet to be broken Guinness record of a combined length of 909.6cm.
