NCC raked in N1.4 trillion in the first quarter of 2016

The Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) realised over N1.4 trillion in the first quarter of 2016 in its operations within the stipulated period.


The Executive Vice Chairman of the Commission, Professor Umar Garba Danbatta, said in Kano on Wednesday while paying a courtesy call to governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje at Kano Government House.

Dambatta revealed that, the generated money was part of their contribution to the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

He also said: “Multiple taxation, coupled with obstruction of right of way for development in states of the federation, has been identified as the major challenge militating against the growth and development of telecom service providers in the country”.

However, Danbatta urged Governor Ganduje to mobilize his counterparts in the 19 Northern States to fashion out modalities for a downward review of the multiple taxation imposed on telecommunication industries in Nigeria.

According to him, his mission in Kano, among others, is to draw the attention of the State Government to the resolution of the National Economic Council (NEC) on multiple taxation, levies and charges on ICT infrastructure in Nigeria to which all state Governors accented to, which calls for urgent downward review.

He disclosed that Lagos State Government has already commenced the full implementation of the provisions of these recommendations, which has become a model from which other states can borrow a leaf.

UK resumes work, study visa applications processing in Nigeria

The United Kingdom has resumed work and study visa applications processing in Nigeria. This was contained in a post by UKinNigeria on its social media handles on Wednesday. In the post, Nigerians were urged to proceed to the UK visa application centres for the Priority Visa Services. “From January 24, TLS will resume offering some Priority Visa (PV) Services in our Nigerian visa application centres. A man has lost his p*n!s in the hands of a an Ashawo after the angry Lady used a sharp object to cut off the man’s m*****d. A Kenyan man has been left in excruciating pain after his m*****d was chopped off by a an Asahwo for refusing to pay her after passionate s*-x.   The unidentified man is now recuperating in hospital but in serious pain.
