Texas Mum killed daughter Taylor days before wedding
Taylor Sheats, 22, was set to marry her boyfriend of four years, Juan Sebastian Lugo, in a small ceremony, the New York Post reported.
They were going to have a larger, more formal ceremony once she graduated from college, the paper reported.
Lugo’s sister Maria Lugo — despite the murderous acts of her brother’s mother-in-law-to-be — paid tribute to the Sheats family.
“Yall were part of our family, and that will never change. The greatest in laws anyone could ever have, and the sweetest, most wholesome and caring girls in my life,” she wrote on Facebook.
“I look up to yall so much. Y’all were a light in the midst of this crazy world. We will love you two until the end of time.”
Taylor and sister Madison, 17, were killed by mum Christy Sheats on Friday — moments before a responding sheriff’s deputy fatally shot her in Fulshear, a Houston suburb in Fort Bend County.
Dad Jason Sheats pleaded with his wife, “Don’t do this, they’re our kids!” before she pulled the trigger.
He was not injured but was taken to hospital in a distressed state.
Investigators haven’t immediately said what might have prompted Christy Sheats’ deadly actions.
It has been alleged Mrs Sheats got into an argument with her two daughters on Friday afternoon local time.
One of the daughters died at the scene and the other was transported to a local hospital but did not survive.
The killer was an avowed gun rights advocate and authorities have said she had bouts of mental illness.
On Facebook, Fort Ben County Sheriff’s Office wrote the girls’ mother refused to lower her weapon when police arrived and was shot and killed by a Fulshear officer.
Fort Ben Sheriff Troy Nehls posted an update on Saturday afternoon.
“As everyone is certainly aware, we had a terrible incident last night that involved the deaths of three people,” he wrote.
“An unimaginable tragedy that it seems we see too often.”
