Learn a new Skill this week

The economic situation of the country leaves us with no option than to cater for ourselves in every honest way possible. A lot of us have decided to learn a skill and some of us eventually have developed these skills to level where it is generating reasonable income aside the paid employment.Unfortunately a lot us still have the idea that until one is in a paid employment, that person have no Job.

Some of us who are in a paid employment are also taking some courses in business management, Information Technology and so on just to ensure we never lag behind like our parents did.

I know a medical doctor who spent his spare time taking computer courses, today he is also a programmer. He has done so well in coding, that he has developed an outstanding medical software which many doctors are currently testing. Who would have developed such an App better than a doctor?

A guy I know who recently finished his NYSC program is currently teaching people programming and website design which he learnt during his service year. Learning skills like these can be very profitable when there is no available white collar job, in fact, one can make a very decent living out of it.

My barber is someone who learnt the skill even before going to the University. He opened the shop with his older brother. The business is boomimg well for them. That did not however stop their education.

His older brother got admission into the university while he continued the business. As his brother was about to graduate he also got admission into the university. With both of them very busy, they had to employ another person to take care of the business. Now both of them have degrees and the Salon business is still on.

So you see that one can help himself with the little skills he acquires and most can be acquired at little or no cost apart from your determination. It does not matter whether you’re a graduate or not because your destiny is not wrapped in your certificate.

I am not a mechanical engineer, but I can fix my car whenever it has issues. I know the problems and can fix most of them personally. That's a skill I learnt several years ago and its helping me save a lot of money today. Wealth comes from two directions, Making money and Saving money. 

Theoretically, If you saved up all you made in the last one year, you will discover its a huge amount of money. But if you spent it all on recurrent activities such as food, car maintenance, fees, fares, rents and save none, how then can you plan for capital projects. 

Some of us are so unskilled, we have to pay an electrician to change light bulb in our homes.

Just imagine a 30 years old man who cant drive a car, gets a job and have to employ a driver  when given an official car. 

Everyone who drives a car is a driver, many people hate to be addressed in that manner, so they never learn to drive until their driver becomes sick. Please if you are above 25 and can't drive, go and learn by all means possible

Please get a new skill, you may not use it to earn money, but it will help you solve personal challenge one day.
