A 30-year-old chief priest, Eno Akpan, has been arrested by the Akwa Ibom State Police Command for allegedly killing his one year and three months old daughter, Favour. Eno, a native of Ikot Akpan Udo village in the Ikot Abasi Local Government Area, was said to be the custodian of the village’s shrine.

The Federal Government on Monday took a major step in its plan to revitalise the steel sector as it signed a renegotiated concession agreement with Global Steel Holdings Limited for the Nigerian Iron Ore Mining Company (NIOMCO), Itakpe.

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has warned pastors of his church against growing beards. According to him, an elderly person who cannot be a model to the youths in terms of dressing is not worthy to be described as an elder.

The Delta State Police Command has confirmed that a man chopped off the hand of a member of his extended family over land dispute. The suspect, Mr Jude Boroh, had allegedly attacked Morgan Ekure, a civil servant with the Delta State government, with a cutlass.

There was a palpable tension in the House of Representatives on Monday over an alleged plot to remove the Speaker, Mr. Yakubu Dogara, over the budget padding allegations made by a former Chairman of the Committee on Appropriation, Mr. Abdulmumin Jibrin.  It was gathered that many members were ruffled, forcing a large number of them to rush from their vacation spots to meetings in Abuja where the alleged plot was discussed.
